Default Starter solenoid

I flipped my 2000 magnum 500 this weekend. I thought I had thought of everything but the clip on the battery was not secure so it dumped the battery. In the process the hot wire broke the starter solenoid in half. I got a new one, it looks basically the same. It checks out with the volt meter but the machine will not start. The battery is fully charged all the connections are clean. If I bridge the terminals it will start. I dont know what I'm missing.

it sounds like the small wire cming froom the key or start botton is eather not hooked up of it doesnt have a good connection. put a meter on that and to the ground. and it should read 12 volts when you turn the key or hit the starter button. whatever your atv has mine has the bottons. if you don't have power there then follow the wire up to see were the problem might be it might have got pulled off the switch in the front somewere. are all of your gageous working? lights or whatever is electrical? does it click when you hit the start button or turn the key? the solonoid click? if it does then teh solonoid is broken even if it is new.

Ill try some more checking with the meter. Everything, gages and all work like they did before. I even got it to start earlier will the pull rope. No clicking or anything. I'm thinking maybe the new solenoid is faulty, its not the first time I've bought a defective part. Its just such a hassle to take back electrical stuff usually I have to be nasty about it. I hope its something else. I'll keep looking, thanks for the input.

if its the correct solnoide and theres power going to the small red wire when the key is turned or button is pushed(which ever the one you have) then the new solnoide is bad or wrong i would guess.
