Default rpm limiter

I don't believe any of the Polaris have a forward rev limiter as it is. My '06 Scrambler doesn't, my buddy's '05 doesn't, my wife's '04 Trailblazer doesn't, nor does my other buddy's wifes '03 Trailblazer. Rick Ritter advised me they do not have forward rev limiters, either. Sportsmans and suck, I'm not sure, but from what understand from others there is no forward limiter.

The reverse rev limiter is a whole other story, however.

yes all polaris engines have a rev limeter you just can't hit it easy. the eingine won't have enogh power against teh air drag and tire drag to hit it even on a open stretch. they all do and on ebay the have cdis that have higher rev limeters in them and they also advance the timing witch can give you crazy power ive used them on my race cars but they will blow your engine and racing we replace pistonds every 5 races never do this to a toy even if you want to race it a lil only if you are heavy racing all it mostly helps is the bottom end torqe and the 1000 rpm will give you more top end speed but you still won't hit the limeter unless you do other upgrades like porting and eghaust then you will have more power to power up teh speeds fighting the air drag and the tire drag. the best upgrade is the clutch that will effect your rpm speed and torqe. and those upgrade cdis cause you have to play with the jets to keep your engine from blowing or getting to hot.

What's the rpm limit? The manual says 6800 is the max, I've spun mine up to 7300 with no problems and still sounds fine, no valve float, ect. My dealer has also told me there is no limiter, the schematic doesn't show a limiter, the manual doesn't list a limiter. So..I'm not sure.

7300 rpm on a 500 scrambler...lol..RIGHT! yes you have a rev limiter and no way in heck did you hit 7300 rpm. Most sportsmans limiter is at about 6300-6500 rpm. I highly doubt your engine is going to last very long at 7300 rpm. I think you misread 7300 for 6300.

uhh..ok. I take it you have not put a tach on a Scrambler and see what they run. They easily go over 7k. I think you need to visit GEN3 forum and see the guys that also have Scrambler that reach this RPM.

Most sportsman limiter is about 6300-6500?? Which is it? IF that's the case you'll be bouncing off that limiter quite often.

What tach are you using?

No I dont have a scrambler but it is the same engine as the sportsman. The 700 and 800 rpm limit is 6300. the 500 limit is 6700. I find it very hard to believe Polaris would limit the sportsman and not the scrambler. I could be wrong...hey we all are, but no way in hell would I run a polaris 500 motor over 7000 rpm for any length of time.

i can tell you that 800's have a rev limiter. when you clutch is wrong you'll hit it w/ no problem lol. most engines these days have the limiters built into the cdi box i beleave so its not like you can change it. personally i wouldnt want to turn an engine that is suppose to max out at 6300 rpms and contuine to run it at 7300 w/ out some engine mods as it wont last as long as it should. imo.

after some further investigation, the scrambler rev limiter is 7500 rpm. So yes I was wrong, I figured it would be the same as the sportsman 500 since it was the same engine. But either way, there is a rev limiter!

im not sure about the rev limiter on the 700 but i can tell you its not that low on 800 as ive turned mine 6800 w/out hitting it. their might be some leavy way in how acturate the limiters are. i agree w/ you about not running a 500 engine that high for any lenght of time.
