rear brake??? i thought tha lever was for shifting</end quote></div>
That's true on my 2004 SP700. There's a spring that connects the rear brake pedal to the transmission. I looked on my wife's 2006 SP500 and there is no such spring and no other connection to the transmission that I can see, so I don't think that function exists on her machine. It's just a brake pedal - and not even that at the moment!

is there any way to get the rear brake to hold at it fullest potential? i use my sportsman on my ranch. i find myself carrying objects in my left hand, then having no brakes except the foot brake. it only holds at about 1/4 power, which obviously sucks when you need to stop! i contacted my dealer about it and they said they are all that way for safety purposes. well, is there any way to get this thing to hold at it fullest potential? is there an orfis (sp?) in the line someplace limiting the amount of fluid going to the caliper?

This is the third post on this I've read this morning. Obviously some of you guys are having problems with the rear brake but I never did in the 5 years I had my '01 and don't on my '06 either. Maybe you're wearing out the emergency brake by using it all the time instead of just in emergencies.
