01 500 scrammy tranny ?'s

Default 01 500 scrammy tranny ?'s

first off i'd like to say thanks for all the help i get on this forum, i have a 01 500 4x4 scrambler and wanted to know if a 06 scrambler tranny will work on the 01? and also how do i know if mine is an high output? thanks 01 scrambler

Yes the trannys will swap and yes yours is a HO

In 98 the Scrambler got the high duration cam and larger 40mm carb while the Sportsman,s motor was left alone. In 2001 the Sportsmans had the Scamblers same cam and carb added so they called it a Sportsman 500 H.O. (High OutPut)

They don,t call a Scrambler a H.O because it alway was considered one.

Only in 97 when the 500 scrambler was first introduced did it have a regular 500 motor.

i have a 2001 scrambler and a sportsman engine but the carb on the engine is a 39mm from the sportsman so that meens my engine is prob from a diff year?

The 500 only had a 34mm carb until 2000, in 2001 it had a 40mm carb. If it has a 39mm its a add on later maybe.

ok so the engine and carb was prob from a 2000 then becase i think that was teh earliest year the previose owner had in a sportsman and he told me the engine and carb came from a sportsman

Outside visually its next to impossible to tell a 500 H.O from a non H.O 500 motor. Measure the carb throat from the air box would be the easiest.

but on mine the carb is different when i took it apart the insiedes are alot diff between teh 2 diff carbs
