Default Fan problem

I just put a new fan on my 500 ho and when I went to cross a creek and the fan went under water the fan quit and the light came on. When I got out of the water all was normal. I was going down the path when the light came on and no fan, so I shut it off and stated it back up and all was fine again? The water thing happened twice. Any suggestions?

Stay out of water? Probably not an option huh? Did the old fan ever do that?

first thing I would try would be to seal the electrical connections with di-electric grease

You said the light came on .........Are you talking about the "HOT" light.........
I not sure the fan will run under water......Due to the load placed on the fan.
The water should have cooled the rad faster than the fan...........So I would think the Hot light should never came on in the water.
Did you check the back of the rad to see if it is clean?.........Caper........

Nobody answered in a week, I was just seeing if you're still listening. Like I said, probably not a option. It's not for me. I assume it's not for you either, but I'm still just guessing. I won't joke with you anymore.

So, DID the old fan do that??? We're all trying to help you but we need input. If the old fan didn't do it, then it must be a problem with the new fan.

Sorry jumbofrank, I did not understand but now I do. Thanks! I don't mind jokes I have a good sense of humer. I just took it wrong. My bad!

Everthing seems to be right. I did clean the connections and used diaelectric grease when I switched out the fan. I put the same fan in my wifes about a year ago and no trouble. No, the old fan did not do it. Yes, the hot light comes on. I do agree with you on the fact about the fan can't turn under water but why the light? The only time it does this is when the fan is running and I put it in the water, any other time it is fine. I can play in the water all day as long as the fan doesn't come on. I can enter the water with the fan on and the light comes on and the fan slows to a stop and as soon I get out of the water all is fine, but all is fine if I enter the water with the fan off. FYI fan cuts on and off like normal I only have that one problem. I tried to test it on a ride last weekend but every time we came up on a water crossing the fan cut off right before I put in. Maybe I will get lucky and that will happen every time.

Since water is 784 times denser than air, your fan is working 784 times harder than it should when it's underwater. That's what slows it down.
