How are the 08 painted bodies holding up. Any chipping or flaking off?

so far its just fine. im guessing it you hit something hard enough it will chip the paint, but for scratches they seem to hid ehtem better then the regular plastic. imo.

I have the 08 800 Sportsman with the new auto paint. I have only ridden it 30+ miles and I am already getting chips all across the bottom edge of the rear fenders. Has to be from small rocks thrown by the rear tires. Its pretty disapointing. Who knows what it will look like in a year? i am considering undercoating the rear fenders. This works on the rear fender wells of GM 1 -ton trucks to keep the fiberglass fenders from star cracking.

I've owned two Chevrolet Sportside/Stepside pickups with fiberglass fenders and rocks impacting the backside of the fiberglass with star and eventually seriously crack and chip the pain. Farmers and other people who drive on a lot of gravel country roads and people who run aggressive tires will really notice this. You either needed to spray on extremely thick undercoating or fashion inner fender wells. I fixed on on the heap once by coating the inside of the fenderwell with a couple of inches of high quality spray foam and after it cured coating that with a couple of coats of undercoat. worked quite well.

When they came out with the painted plastics on the Polaris I wondered if this might also be a problem. Perhaps the paint is more elastic and it won't be a problem.

I have an 07 stone beige X2. I have rubbed up against and banged into several trees, and even flipped the thing over scraping the front fenders on the ground. So far I've been totally surprised and impressed with how well this paint is holding up.

I'm sure those engineers are smarter than me (usually) but, paint on the fenders of an ATV never crossed my mind as a durable finish.

Well with doing my REAR Working Lights Mod recently, and having to cut out the place in the light POD
for the switch, my dealer was right my STEALTH BLACK was black all the way through.

He told me when I went to buy it that the CAMO and STEALTH BLACK are the most durable
body colors since they are HEAT MOLDED when I asked.

FYI, as far as a color I am really happy with mine but the body color of the BLUE (like STENDORI's)
and RED were very impressive, I was close to buying the RED cuz no BLUE was avail. Now after scraping mine a little and
scratching it, kinda glad I did BUT those colors on the new 08's are nicer then other brands I have
seen to date - IMO

the paint by no means is indestructable for sure. but for myself, normal everyday use it seems not to scuff as easy and maybe a little betters on the light scratches then the regular molded color plastic. now if you hit a tree or flip it sure i would think it would chip right off.
