Sportsman 300 Reviews

My daughter is looking to buy a Sportsman 300.
Anyone here has an opinion?
I took one out for a test drive, and I don't know!
It was almost like a car stuck in first gear.
Please give me your thoughts.

If you do a search for Hawkeye 300 you will find quite a lot of info. Polaris changed the name this year (08), to the Sportsman 300. I have an 06 Hawkeye, (first model year), and I'm very pleased with it! It will take you anywhere a full size machine will take you with plenty of power and the design is very simple and dependable!
The only down side is it is not a racer, while it has plenty of power to go anywhere, it just may not get there first...I would think it would be perfect for your daughter.
Side note1...acceleration issues can be overcome to some extent with fairly easy and inexpensive mods that have been covered extensively here.
side note2...the early 06 Hawkeyes did have their growing pains, carb. jeting and clutching issues along with a couple recalls for frame design issues but these were resolved for the 07 MY and this bike has been rock solid since!

My Hawkeye has performed flawlessly. Not the machine for jumping or extreme us (in my opinion but others will differ). Goes anywhere the big guys go, but I have no experience in mud. Simple, cheap on fuel, & dependable.
Does everything my 400HO will do, only slower. How fast can you go on trails. Topped out at 52 mph on gps. Stock.
