Default Winch Cover / Front Grill

I just picked up my 08 SP500 X2 and noticed that the winch cover / front grill was loose. I tried to put in back in place but it just keeps popping back off. I have the 3500 Polaris winch - so they put the front grill with the opening for the winch on the machine - but it won't stay in place. The bottom of the "replacement grill" has two tabs on the bottom that insert into the original front grill/guard then the top lip just seems to catch the front edge of the storage box. Is this correct?

I looked for threads on this but couldn't find anything. Anybody else have this issue?

I have that same winch with out the issues. Call your dealer as it could be a bad replacement grill.

I had the same problem until the cover popped off while riding. I stopped by a local Polaris dealer and one of the mechanics gave me a new cover for free. I brought it home cut the new winch hole, this one snapped on and is much tighter.

yea - I'm going to stop by the dealers. Luckily I have the front brushguard so I didn't lose the grill on the trail.

Thanks for the reply's

I had the same problem. Make sure it's seated good and tight at the top. While you're holding the top, take a flat screwdriver and pop the tabs in at the bottom. Worked for me. No problems since. Also make sure that the fairlead or no other part of the winch is touching the panel.

OIown12 - thanks for the info - I'll check this out before I go to the dealer. I have been putting the tabs in the bottom then seating the top - but it doesn't seem to stay. I'll try to seat the top then pry the tabs at the bottom in.
