In Michigan all the spring bulbs, like tulips, have been up, bloomed and are dying. The Great Lakes act like a giant heat sink and mellows out the weather quite a bit. Until the wind sucks up the water and brings all the lake effect snow, in the winter, when it's supposed to snow. They get tons of snow by the west shore that noboby else gets in the whole state.
One of my uncles said there was only one month out of the whole year that he never saw snow in the U.P. I think it was August or September. Sometimes the snow on the ground takes a long time to melt in the woods where it doesn't get much sun. It can be over 70 degrees and the snow is still there.
