3TV,
After reading your post and your comments about the handling around turns, I wish you lived closer to East Texas. The kind of turns you are talking about is exactly what we have to deal with in the barrel races at FWP. You fly into the couse with as much speed as possible, then you hit the brakes and round the three barrels. I have yet to be beat by any wolverine... even modified wolverines. You can chalk that up top rider ability, but I also have ridden Cliftons modified wolverine at Wolf Pen Gap. There are plenty of jumps and tight turns up there, and it was all I could do to keep sight of Hydro on his SP335. That day made me go out and buy my first SP500.

Let me get this straight; You're saying that Wolverines can't keep up with Sportsman 335s???

Well I wish I could bring my Wolverine there, because there's got to be something wrong with the ones you've seen. Either that or you're talking out your a$$. There ain't NO WAY a 335 Polaris is going to keep up with a Wolverine.

I do agree I used to own a wolverine and there a great machine I had swampers and a locked front end .I wrode a sportsman and sure enough it was like a big caddy. But one of my friends rented a 500 scrambler and I changed forever or at least till somthing comes along thats better.I ride everything from big logging roads through mud and tight woods and theres nothing that covers that as well as the scrambler.Sold the Wolverine got the Scrambler.
Happy trails

I agree on dry smooth trails the Wolverine would be a capable machine against the SP, it is lighter and easier to flick around, but that is not all that matters in the world of atving. but it depends on the terrain to and the rider skill. Maine has allot of rocks and roots and logs, that type of thing were ground clearance ands suspension is really important. I bottom out the SP almost every ride hitting stuff. The Wolverine is a fun machine no doubt about it, basically a 4 wheel drive Warrior which is cool. But were i ride my SP is a superior machine.

Do you have many bogs in Maine? I can think of another place where the Wolverine has a huge advantage and that's on peat moss bogs.
Last spring in NFLD I was riding with two of my friends, one on a Grizz and the other on an Xplorer 500. Every time we came to a bog I would go across so easily they would think it was hard, and when they'd follow they'd break through and be so stuck that I'd have to winch them out.
On top of that the Xplorer' front wheels would only engage every now and again, so they ended up getting stuck fairly often.
When we were crossing bogs that were all torn up from other quads and trikes when I would feel that I was about to get stuck I would just have to hop off and give a little push on the bars and the Wolverine would go through. The bigger bikes are enough to make you want to cry when you get them stuck in a peat bog.

Of course the bad thing about a Wolverine is that you can't even LOOK at mud without getting dirty. The more utility bikes have much better rider protection.

I was going to buy a Wolvine because I like that it was the lightest 4x4 made and at 350cc it's still a good size motor that is one of the reason for it,s fast top end.But you know the trails of northern Ontario it,s one big boulder after another and ground clearance is something you can not have to much of.I can now just fly down the middel of these rock infested trail while my friend have to zig zag and pick a path on the trail to avowed the higher rocks ,which becomes monotonous after a few dozen miles and slows them up.
