X2 Broke loading ramps
Hey Black Pearl,
When my cuz and another ride'in friend would see me load my quad their hearts would drop.
They were always critizing and giving suggestions on a better way to load it and what
not especially w/r to my being extra careful with strapping etc. b/c these guys I ride with
are hasty and impatient and ACT like Mr. Motocross but not one of them had the bed I had
and the steepness nor the tri-fold ramps etc. etc. both were using trailers and so they don't
really know whats involved. (I agree with parking the truck downhill when the opportunity presents
and the 4x4 Low gear loading etc.)
Bottom line, is buy, trade, barter, fabricate, or customize a product that is safe for you that
meets your standards, afterall its only you when it comes down to it loading and unloading.
I checked out your links, if I may make a comment, I would really check out the arched ramps
it makes a BIG difference as it is a graceful/gradual climb into the bed of the truck and safer. - IMHO
Getting the step up to the arched you won't be paying much more. Hey before you buy check out some
of the truck accessory places too, I saw in my DennisKirk catalog, a truck bed extender that then folds
out into single load ramps, pretty cool, not sure if they are arched or the weight capacity?
Regards,

^ http://www.readylift.com/c-29-readyramp.aspx I saw something like this, in a 4x4 magazine I think. Wouldn't you need two? I guess you could keep the other one under the quad like any other ramp. Up to 1000 pound capacity each.

I must add that the quads are going on a snowmobile trailer. It is not a high incline like a pick p truck. I am going to add U bolts to the back of the trailer so the finger still grips slide under the U bolts. I will also use straps but not the cheap ones that come with the ramps. I need to get then this week so my son and I can go riding this long week end so shopping around is not an option. The two ramps bolted together should give me enough strength. I talked to the parts person at Canadian tire and he is going to sell them to me for $120/pair at the end of it the $240 is a little pricey but I will have ramps that can hold 1600lbs with a width of 24 inches. A good way to ruin a day would be to get hurt or damage an ATV oading or un loading them...

I'd say you really only need the one pair. Being that they are solid and not folding.
If ramps are any thing like ladders then they set the maximum weight at about a third of the actual weight they can take. At least half any way. Same thing with straps. If they say they have a 300lbs breaking strenght then its really 900 but they have to advertise a 1/3 for safety sake.

have you looked at the quad boss ramps , i got a set that was 50" x 80", they are bifold and fit between the wheels of my x2 , a little spendy though , almost $250, but have held up to 2 years of abuse and even loading a ranger xp up ! sometimes you gotta pay or quality

i agree. a small trailer is the way to go. when im not racing we just use the small trailer and it works great. no chance of takin out your back window
