2005 700EFI stalls when hot.
I have a 2005 700EFI that will stall when it gets hot. If I try to restart it it will start but it will spit and spudder for a few seconds then die. The littel wrench icon flashes on the display when this happens. After about 30 minutes it will restart and run normal until it gets hot again.
I did a search and didn't find anything on this problem. Is this something I can fix or should it go to the shop? Any help is appreciated.

just a thought, but i know of some had simlar issues and it was the fuel pump breaking down. next time it does this, listen for the fuel pump to kick on when you turnthe key to see if its working. they always cycle off when you first turn the key on. if it doesnt, this might be your problem. just a guess though.

I am having the same problem (or a similar problem) with my '05 800- runs for a while, then shuts off after it warms up. I kind of don't think its the fuel pump because it smells really rich when I'm sitting along side the road, waiting for it to cool off so it will start, almost like its flooded itself out. I was wondering if it was one of the EFI sensors gone bad and giving it a bad read. I checked my diognostics unit and I had a blink code- 54, which according to the Service manual is Engine Temp Lamp. Not sure if its all related or not, beucase everything seams to be in check with the coolant system. I even checked the resistance in the engine temp. sensor and it reads fine. Does any of this sound like what your 700 is doing?

a few of the 700 and the 05' 800's had fuel pump issues w/ it breaking down in differnt ways but heating up and shuting off was one of them. i did a post quite awhile ago on this and a (i think) napa sells a replacement fuel pump( a car one) so you dont have to replace the whoile pump and tank. try doind a search on it and see it/ i think it was like airtex or something along those lines.
