well, i have 51 hours and almost 1000 miles on my hawkeye and have taken it through dunes, mud, water, everything and never had that. i have sprayed down the shocks and all that with WD40. and i just thought about this, doesnt WD40 break down and like corrode rubber things like sealing rubber washers and stuff?

 

My experience has been the same as Hawkman. But its never seen mud or heavy dust. Becareful to get all the dust and dirt out before you lubricate anything. Itll just make a nice grinding paste.

 

ya, i only lubricate the parts after a hard clean with the hose.

I had to do this on my '06, not a fun job but solved the problem.

 

You guys where right, The top A arm bushings which are made of hard plastic where the culprit. When i loosened the bolts holding the top A arms, the creaking sound stopped. So I packed some synthetic grease around them and it seems to be ok now. Thanks for the help!

 

Was that on the rear? How hard was it to do? I swear mine creaks from the front.

 

I hosed down the whole suspension, silicone sprayed all the bushings and after that I only noticed the creak in the rear. It wasn't bad. I just loosened up both bolts on the top rear suspension ( it stopped creaking as soon as I loosened up the bolts) and pumped some synthetic grease around the plastic bushings. I didn't remove them and pack them. If it comes back I'll do that. It doesn't look like there is tom much to removing them.

 

tennessee, it's not that hard of a job... i lift the rear end of the machine up with a floor jack and a section of 4x4 post, pull the rear wheels and then there are only 4 bolts (2 per side)... i can't remember the exact size of the bolts (13mm??) just pull those out and you might have to twist the bushings a little to get them out.. there will be 2 bushings and 1 pivot tube per bolt... CLEAN EVERYTHING REAL GOOD... even the inside of the pivot point... i try to put as much grease in as possible however it will be hard to get the bushings to seat properly with the grease not allowing the trapped air to be expelled properly.. then tighten the bolts back down (this usually seats the bushings) as you tighten you will hear the grease like you would if you were using your gun.. i cant remember off the top of my head what the torque specs are but if you need them let me know and i can post them for you when i get home and look in my manual
