i heard the 03 predators have tranny probs? if true how bad is it? could you just buy an updated part? or maybe used parts from a newer predator? i was wondering because im seeing alot of good deals on them and wanted to see if there worth getting or if there very pricey to fix.

I have an 03 with zero problems. What I was told was to make sure that I used the clutch EVERY time I shifted. I was told that the problem was weak shift forks.
I mostly ride sand, but have raced mc and ridden some pretty tight rocky twisty woods too and it has always performed great!
If you are looking at used, you might just ask about riding style.
With my honda, I was able to ride with a cast because I only used the clutch to launch, but with my preddy, I still use the clutch every time.
Hope that helps.

I have had an 05 and now an 07 preddy. I had friends with the 03's when they came out. They never had any "problems" where it would break, but their only complaints other than the lack of reverse was the shifting was rough and like nwcutie said, you have to use your clutch every time. I think the price is low because they don't have reverse and have a bad rep, but I'm not sure why the bad rep. Maybe someone who owns one can chime in here and help us out? One good thing about the 03's is that I think their motor put out more hp's than the newer ones, maybe that caused some trans probs?

Thats about right for an 03.....I'm sure some are in far better condition than others, but still not worth a whole lot. Remember, they were only $4500 or so brand new in 03.
