Default 2004 Polaris Starter

You can start, start ,start, and then it was dead, hit it with a hammer and it will start again
So last week I replaced the starter beacause I figured it had a dead spot in it.
It was a big job to take off the original, as you may know, because the last bolt is just a little to long.
Once we figured everthing out, and changed the last bolt to a 3/4" instead of 1"
everything was relatively easy.
I have a new problem now, it seens as though once you turn the key and the machine starts, the starter wants to wind for maybe 1.0 sec. This was not present with the old starter.
The new starter was purchaed on Ebay as new with 2 year warranty from wyanette auto parts.
Did I forget to do something, or is this the charecteristic of this item?
I did noticedit was MFG/CHINA ?????????????????????????

Please Advise

bump the fuel once it starts. It sounds as if you may have a problem with the bendix now. Doesn't sound like anything to do with the starter. my old 500 you had to always bump the fuel directly after it started.

I'm not sure what bumping the fuel means, or what it will do for the starter.
Contacted the dealer and thet are sendinig a new one, sure hope it is the starter.
The dealer would not reply to noise issue, so I guess I'm stranded.
Will replace starter and pray noise is gone
