Default 2004.5 Sportsman 500 Tires - Help

Currently my Polaris 2004.5 still has the stock tires on it. Carlisle Badlands - Front 25x8x12 and Rear 25x11x12.

I have found the tires I would like to replace them with. Mud Gear from Nebraskatire.com
Link

Can I go to the 26x10x12 in Front and 26x12x12 in the Rear with Stock Suspension and factory 12x7 rims without mods or spacers?

Also how much does this effect steering (Wife still rides it and doesn't want it to steer harder)????

The final question is: Is it worth it to due a size increase? I cross alot of streams and ditches that have mud in them all year long. I am tired of having to winch myself out all the time.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Those tires look like they would last a lifetime. Going from 25" to a 26" tires will only give you an extra 1/2" of clearance. I don't think 1/2" will eliminate the need for winching. I think those front's would require spacers but I'm just guessing. I don't like to go more than 1" taller or wider than stock, because you can do it with no mods at all. Any taller needs clutch mods, and wider may need spacers. It's going to steer harder with 10" mud tires on the front. They will probably be a lot heavier plus have more bite.

no you cant put 10" wide tires on up front w/out them hitting. you either ned spacers or an aftermarket rim. imo.

Great thanks for the advice guys....
So I will stick with stock sizes since that is best sizing in the kit. However I have one more question.
I have alot of people telling me to go to Swamplites.
If you could choose between the two which would you go with?

Interco SwampLite - Link
I just want the best traction for the price.....

+1. It would be the last set of tires you ever need. I don't think you can wear them out unless you're on pavement all the time.
