Marksville, we ride some of the southern Minn. trails but haven't been to far north...Red Top sounds like a great ride with a lot of variety in terain and dificulty and it also ties into the Soo trail.
Here is a link to the DNRs site for Red Top w/ discription and trail map if you haven't looked it up yet!

I've taken it once...It depends on what you consider good riding. My thoughts... it was dusty, should have brought a resperator and crowded. It's only 25 miles long unless you want to ride the grade (soo) which is straight/boring/bumpy. I won't ride it again and we have a weekend place in Malmo. Some guys like the ride so it may be worth your time, just wasn't for me.
I did enjoy the few "difficult" trails although they are short. I rode the entire system all the way over to the river on 65 and back again, took about 2 hours.

Ive riden it a few times, but so far this year I havent gotten up there..but the foxy lady trail should be open this year, after 2 years of being closed for repairs. Its the sall, but challenging trail, just off the railbed trail, outside of Isle.
Red top has some good spots in the far south side, on the Ten Bruin adventure trail. It used to be very challenging, but its been fixed up, so even a sporty can get thru. All the trails get dusty, unless its right after a rain.
Have you tried the Pine Center trail? Its about 25 miles or so, west of there, and it has about 85 miles of trails.
Nemadji is a bit further north and east of there, but theres alot of good riding to be had there. Ive gone there quite a few times, and end up finding new trails every time.

Thanks for the input guys. My folks have a 13 acre chunk of land in Mcgrath. There is a group of about 8 of us riding up from Where the soo line starts or ends in Genola and working our way up to Mcgrath to camp there. I have never been on the red top loop. I think we will check it out. I'll let you know what I think.
Thanks again for the input.
