Make sure you got the timing right. No reeds in a 4 stroke. Try and find an atv mechanic that could help you out cause things don't sound good [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img]

I stand by my earlier statement because there are no reed valves in a 500 HO (4 stroke) engine. I believe that a 400 was the biggest engine that had reed valves and it was a 2 stroke.
I also believe that your engine has an overhead cam that may be chain driven. So, it sounds to me like something in that area broke or came loose.
