Ive got a 95 Magnum 425 that backfires when you release the throttle after holding it steady for a bit. If you gently feather it to slowly reduce engine speed it seems okay. It seems to load the cylinder with fuel. Any suggestions?
I just bought this and otherwise its a great ride

Also check throttle cable play, too muck slack can also cause backfiring. 1/16-1/8" slack

vibration sometimes causes problems with the needle or seat in the carb. Search the forum and there is some good info about the issue. I've also seen the carb itself crack and cause issues which mimic a bad cam. If you pull it to check the internals make sure to closely inspect the body of the carb itself.
