Just looking a buying my first ATV and narrowed it down to a few final models, the
07 Polaris X2 500 (less than 1 hour on clock and $1500 less than 08)
08 Polaris X2 500
I had a few questions that the guys in the shop couldn't answer....
I took the 08 500 for a short drive and it seemed to rev quite hard at low speed.. Admittedly I did not get to spend as much time testing as I would have liked to... Is that normal for Polaris ATVs?
What is the difference between the 07 and 08 model?
How dose the 4x4 work on the Polaris? I have heard that when going down a steep hill and you take your hand of the throttle it goes back to 2wd?
what speeds can you get upto on the 500's?
Any other atv's I should look at.? Should I look at the 700 as well?
The Can am's don't have a good name here, as they don't seem to last very long.
Thanks!

speed wise there around 55 to 60 mph. the awd(4x4) is a true awd where all 4 tires are digging. it will stay in awd when there is wheel slippage(rear) while the button is pushed until it regains traction then go out of awd. now if it has "ADC" in awd it will have all wheel braking done the hill under 15 mph and as long as you dont touch the throttle. the engagement on the clutch is about 17 to 1,800 rpms on take off so im guessing it was normal and your not use to it. the 500 is one of the most reliablable engines out there and are pretty good on fuel.

I have a 07 800 x2, We like the design capability of being able to ride 2 up or fold the seat down and it looks like its not even there. The bed works good for carrying stuff back and forth from the cabin to the lake.
I know the 800 motor changed a bit from 07 to 08 supposed to be a bit more hp ect., but not available in 800 x2 unless you buy a special more expensive limited additon model.
I am not too sure if there where any changes to the 500 motor, I dont believe there were any structural changes on x2 07 to 08

the 07' delux 800 does have the adc. chances are i would guess the 07' x2 500 doesnt have it either. if you go down alot of steep hills, i would consider the 08' w/ the adc. the non adc w/ just the ebs tends to lock up the back wheels causing you to slide w/out it on steep loose grades unless you keep a little throttle applied. just a little info for ya and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, Much appreciated
The 07 I looked at dosn't have ADC but the 08 dose, I'm just wondering if it's worth the 1500 bucks and if there is any thing else between the 07 08.
