Well guys it happend to me again. I was climbing a short steep hill and I kind of stopped on it and the engine bogged down and I couldn't get it out of gear until I finished climbing the hill. I know that the belt was hung up just like before, so I orderd the brass and fiber washers and plan on taken it to the dealer and letting them install them. I can't do this myself due to needing special tools right? Is there a way that I can get the clutch off myself and just carry that to the dealer? How long should it take the dealer to fix this? If I can't get the clutch off I am going to have the cover off before I take it in. How come this only happens on a hill or when hung up in mud; most people have the atv creep on flat ground right?

 

You have to have spider removal tool or maybe some posters have made or used something else! I have tool and clutch holder as many spiders are on pretty tight and I have to use an impact tool on some! About 100' torque. Just have to be carefull with small springs and roller bearings IF you remove one way clutch to replace fiber washer at back! I remove slowly,and grease up inside area to retain springs,bearings. Plus this will probably be dry any way. If done quickly,nothing will fall out. On the outer bearing cup I use spacers from inside the rear clutches from non ebs machines. Same diameter,last a little longer. This was a tip passed to me from a Polaris engineer who was one of the few that I trust AND it works! Spider removal tool or eqivalent needed, can hold bottom clutch sheath with hands lot of times if have impact tool. If its a 01 or 02 model,these are the ones that creep the most. Clutch alignment, .020 clearance between one way clutch and back sheath along with motor mount position critical on these models. Have had really no problem on later models on creeping.
