Hi, i was wondering if i like put a FMF Fatty pipe and silencer on a 99 Sport 400 if i would have to get a clutch kit too, because there is an article in a DirtWheels magazine saying that u have to tune the clutch so that u won't lose power when u modify it any. Would getting an EPI clutch kit do the job for me or what would i have to do????

Yes, you will need to change the clutch calibration when you make changes like a pipe, larger carb, porting, etc.
I'll warn you though, you won't find many fans of FMF pipes in the forum. The majority of the posters in here have HPD or RCR pipe and clutch kits in their 400's.

 

Your stock clutch is to weak to handle a 7 to 10 horsepower increase, you'll snap the spring and get an imbalanced shift pattern due to a bad power to weight transfer caused by an off balance in the clutch weights.

hotseatperformance, HPD, and RCR are all companies to consider when buying a clutch kit, I can't tell you which one you should buy, they sell different kinds of kits to suit your riding needs.
