I just mounted a Lowrance GPS on the stupid rack using foam base and zip ties. I just wanted to see where a good mounting place would be. The two rails that run across the rack look REAL sturdy, and would be nice if there were some generic brackets to fit them. Have to work on that.

Good luck on the mounting.

Slashsplat, try a flat style J-hook to screw things down to the front rack. They come with a machine screw end. You can get them at some hardware stores. I put the rack extender on the front of my quad and tie almost everything off to that. Haven't lost anything in 1000 miles of riding. Coacho, there is a nice Lock-n-ride X2 gun mount and scabbard. I've seen it for about $140 on eBay for the scabbard and mount.

Any pics on that kind of setup MH? I can't picture these J hooks. I like you use my front rack extender
and bought the Mad Dog Cargo net at Bass Pro, carry bunges and ratchet straps so I have alot
for tie downs.

A J-bolt is shaped like a letter J, just like a U-bolt but shorter on one side. If it's straight with a 90 degree bend and looks like a letter L, it's an L-bolt.

Once again, I've been corrected by JumboFrank! He has the right name for the bolt. I had a feeling I was wrong. Rtickwad, I don't use that setup because I don't have a hard box for the front. I got a Polaris structured soft bag off eBay and it fits nice and tight with the rack extender. I only use it for extra clothing when it gets cold up here. I use the extender and rack tie downs for coolers when I have a passenger. Usually a cargo net with hooks. I haven't lost a cooler yet.

Okay I am familiar with the U-Bolts, usually the universal standard with accessories in the
ATV world. Much easier for the rear rack to mount things but going back to the top
post not as fitting with the front rack since it has the rail system Vs. knock thru holes or tube
style rack. I know you can weed the U-Bolt thru the holes in the railing I just don't picture it scaling
to well, more of a rigg job, but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do, LOL.

Would be neat if a front rack was made as a pop on or something for the front, say a new cargo lid
you could swap out or something of the kind, but then it adds a little weight and then if you want
to open to access the cargo box, may be a little cumbersome, IMO.

Its all Engineering!

Regards,

Unbolt those rails and replace them with some aluminum angle then you could drill all the mounting holes you need in the angle.
