Engine oil suggestion?

Currently own a 2008 sportsman 800 HO twin EFI. the manual recommends 2w-50 motor oil? only place that carries this oil is the polaris dealer. What is everyone else running in theres(any problems)

I would run the 2w-50. If you buy synthetic 5-30 mobil one and a oil filter from napa, its the same price as the kit from polaris, and that 2w-50 is usually expensive, so it isn't that bad of a deal.
Also, I have heard that lighter weight oils can tear apart the valve train under hot conditions. This is a reason why they recomend 50 weight oil.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE, HAVE CAMSHAFTS TO PROVE! Anybody need any paper weights? have a box full of em! Have to admit though that some of my cams came from machines that looked like they had oil changes about every 500 hrs! Oil thick and black like syrup. Just regular maintenance and any engine should should last.
