I let a neighbors kid ride my quad and I think he pushed the all wheel drive button while the quad was moving. Now I hear an intermittent clanky/metallic sound. I cant tell if it is coming from the engine/clutch area or the front diff. Do you guys have any ideas for me?
Thanks,
Joe

there is nothing wrong with flipping the switch while the machine is running down the road. i've done it.the problem arises when the rear wheels are spinning faster then the front which would make the hilliard slam into the hub.was the rear spinning?

^^^ Ditto. I've flipped the switch at 40-50 mph several times. As long as you aren't spinning the rear wheels it's not a problem. If you are stuck and spinning the rear wheels and flip the switch, I guess your hubs get fragged like a grenade going off.

TRY RUNNING AROUND WITH IT,YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO REAL FAST, JUST ALITTLE LONG.THEN FEEL THE HUBS,IF THE LEFT ONE IS HOTTER THAN THE RIGHT ONE THERE YOU GO.IF NOT THAN MAYBE A DRY DRIVE JOINT OR DIFF.
