I bought a used 2002 sportsman 90 for my son. It ran great for a couple of days then went to idle and now will not accelerate. I cleaned the carb several times to no avail. I checked compression and it has 90 psi. Starts on first kick and acts like it wants to accel if you pump the throttle. Any help would be great.

 

Could be time for a fresh top end if carb and air filter clean and wont accept throttle.

 

Funny thing is this happened the day before and I cleaned the carb then it went to running great again. Talked to the previous owner and he said it would usually run after a carb clean and sometimes ran after just letting it sit.

 

COULD be LOOSING compression when warm? Could have too much piston to cylinder clearance,runs good until warm? IF you have to constantly clean carb, Is trash or water present,did you flush tank? Just a thought,the time it takes to remove and clean carb,cylinder should be cool,then after running a while does it bog and die?
