My dad has a Polaris Sportsman 400. The battery had died, and he went to try and jump start it. I guess it worked the first time but later on when he went to jump start it again, he connected the jumper cables backwards.... And he was unable to jump start it even after putting them on the correct way. He took his battery to be tested and it was completely dead and he plans on buying a new one, but I'm not convinced it will fix the problem.

My questions are:

- Are there any fuses that could have blown?
- What side effects might he experience from connecting the jumper leads on backwards?
- Is there an online version of a Factory Service Manual?

Connecting the (+) and (-) in reverse can cause the module to fail...........Depending on the year of the Quad and what type of electrical system it has ...........I am guessing there is something damaged........Caper......

 

solnoide or starter damage could have happened for sure. there might be a fuseable link somewhere between the battery and other electronics. check for it to be in line.
