Default Polaris Headlight issues

I blow head lights like there going out of style. Every hunting season I take off for the deer blind, and no head lights. Last time the dealer only had one bulb, so I put it in and it worked. I went driving this weekend, and checked it, still working. Came back down the same path later in the dark and it was dead.

I have a good battery installed and everything else works (speedo reads 5mph when parked but that's about it. I suspect that it blows the lights when I start it. Nasty habit leaving the lights on.

Any thoughts? Would that be a bad voltage regulator or a design flaw?

I don't know how to solve your problem but I do know that you can get those bulbs from the auto store so that you won't have to pay so much for them. I do have the part # for the pod and that is GE886. I don't remember the part # for the others except the tail light with is 1157 or GE198.
