This seems to be my last problem to solve before having this xplorer back in good rideing condition. It is grinding when you try to put it in reverse. It wont engage in reverse unless while trying to shift it you roll it back a little then it will engage. Going into foward high isnt nearly as bad but its not really smooth. It is idleing real nice but maybe slightly fast. Funny thing is when I go to adjust the idle needle on the carb nothing changes at all no matter how much its unscrewed. The linkages seem to be well adjusted. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

LOOSEN slack at throttle cable adjuster to about 1/8" slack on thumb throttle, then can adjust idle speed at carb. Adjust idle speed to low steady idle and see if helps shifting.Transmission gears are straight cut gears, not beveled and idle speed affects shifting. IF doesnt help shifting, still grinding, could be internal problems. CAN try to readjust linkage: In NEUTRAL,loosen both lock nuts on linkage at shift box end, pull up adjusters, can turn out or in to where adjuster DROPS STRAIGHT IN SHIFTER BOX ARM. Do this on both linkage arms. Hope this helps
