2004 sportsman front gear case
I disassembled my front gear case because my AWD was not working. I found all the bearings rusted and pitted etc.. My question is that the book states that the coil needs to test out at 22.8 to 25.2 ohms.. Mine test out at 27 ohms.. Is the tolerance that tight that 1.8 ohms difference means the coil is scrap????
Anyone have any experience with this?
thanks

Havent checked on awd coil plus or minus, but most resistance checks especially on stators allow + or- 20% on ohm readings. Your within 10%,PLUS did you touch both red and black leads to see IF ZEROS OUT or does it show like .001-.003 or higher.IF does then take ohm reading and SUBTRACT lead test. My fluke meter hardly ever zeros out even with new leads!

Thanks for the tip! That makes sense to me. The funny thing about this rebuild is that I took all the bearings and seal to our local bearing and seal dealer and he was able to match all the bearings and seals with American made bearings and seaks for less then 1/3RD!! the price Polaris wants, and on top of that the bearings Polaris used in the front end have manufacturing stamps from Russia, Japan and Taiwan....If I can get the bearings for a third of the price I,m sure they should be able to use genuine USA parts in there machines!! Polaris still managed to get me for a set of rollers for there cage bearing.. But if they were not so greedy they would have got me for a lot more!!
