I have a 2001 Polaris sportsman 500 and everytime i turn the key it just clicks. i thought it was the starting solinoid so i put a new one on it but it still clicks. i have jumped the solinoid with a screw driver and it starts just fine? what could my problem be? i have also noticed that the speedometer does not work or the 4x4 switch i dont know if there is some kind of conection with the starting problem. Let me know if anyone can help i am lost at this point
Thanks

Ok not sure if it's the same...but on a car it would be the solinoid just because you said that you can jump it with a screwdriver... just because it's a new one don't mean it's not a bad one. Also I'd check all the connections to make sure everything is tight.
As far as being related to your speedometer and 4x4 switch,I doubt it is...
Isn't there a re-setable link (fuse) in the wiring.between the battery and the starter somewere?

Afternoon chevvy56
You might want to try pullin this apart and clean it. It's under the pod. I was havin problems with my quad and it seemed to fix em. Can't hurt nothin to try it.

Got to thinkin, (not a normal thing for me) I have a 2006 EFI 500. It might not be the same setup..

ok update it does not click when you turn the key it doesn't do anything. I found that if i put power to the small wire on the starter solenoid it starts right up with the key on but if i turn the key by itself it doesn't make a sound? any suggestions?
