hi i have a early 90's trailboss 250r/es and when i got it it had set up for a while and i worked on it(carb rebuild kit, gas tank cleaned, oil tank cleaned) it was running for a while then after i rebuilt the carb it not running right it wont idel and wont start on its on i have to spray a little starting fluid in it before it will and when its running i always have to give it gas. im really the most experienced person to tune a 2-stroke but i got it where it will run good until i let off the throttle and it dies the carb is clean all jets are free flowing. i dont have the air filter on it yet because of tunning but i dont think it should matter much. if any one can help me because of the stress its giving me, ive worked on it more than i have got to ride the thing. O plus when i had it running i heard i tinking noise at full throttle going down the road so if you could fill me in on some tricks on how to get it run run long enough to ride it for longer than 5 minutes that would be amazing
thanks

Doc is probably busy building his ark.
I believe he's talking about the contacts by the thumb throttle. Not sure if it's the same in the early 90's. Pop off the top cover and you'll see some contact points inside. If the throttle cable isn't adjusted correctly, the contacts won't let the engine start. it's a safety feature.

well i dont know what happened from the time last night and this evening but it runs great and strong wont idel perfectly but o well, but now my question is it runs and sounds great until i punch the throttle and release it and when i am on a stright away full throttle it makes a tinking noise i was just wondering if this is normal?? the atv is old and probably needs rings but i am going wait until its to cold to ride it to tear it apart. O and is there something in the rear suspension that gets lose all the time because when i hit a hil and catch a small amount of air when i land it sounds like a shock bottoming out but it isnt im puzzled i look at all the point and tightened them and it still does it

hmm, tinking? pinging? is it old gas? try putting in some premium gas. I know, it's expensive. If the noise goes away, it's a cheap fix.
you might also be hearing some piston slap if it's old. about $100 repair if you're handy. If it's all original, have it bored out and you'll have a new motor.
Is your chain loose? Maybe it's slapping the swingarm when you land.
