[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] Posted earlier about the XP 550 we just got in,thumbing through owners 550/850 handbook, started looking at specs,etc and found that to my disgust the 850 still using Champions(have already made my opinion known on Champions,and its NOT good!) To make matters worse,calls for REA6MC! Tried for a little while at work to cross reference to NGK with no luck! Tried every cross reference chart I could find,PLUS could not even find a cross reference through Yahoo and a GOOGLE search! Too new a plug OR Champions trying to pull a fast one! I LEAVE IT UP to you PUTER HEADS that are a lot better than me on searches! TOO OLD and set in my ways to convince me that theres a better overall plug than NGK!

they must stay w/ champ. because they get a good deal on them. personally i dislike champ plugs and prefer ngk myself.

From my experience Champions plugs have always run too hot in the Insulator portion of the plug,
Hard on Plug wires, boots and also tends to cause premature dielectric breakdown.

I like Champion in lawnmowers but prefer NGK for my quads. I've used 1 Champion for the entire life of a Briggs & Stratton engine. No way I'm doing that to my Po.

now that i'll agree 100%. lawn mowers seem to run forever on the old cheap champions lol.

I agree, I must say I am surprised that Polaris uses Champion. NGKs are the best, used them in everything from my lawnmower to my 900 RWHP Twin Turbo Mustang Cobra.

Even on the Federal Mogul site which I guess owns the Champion brand does it come up. Poo & champion pulling a fast one. Will probably be like 12$ a plug.

I e-mailed NGK here's what I got back


Hello,

Looking through Champ catalog I see that

R= resistor
E= 14mm diameter with a 1" reach (25mm)
A= does not show
6= heat range equivalent to 8 in NGK
M=projected tip
C=copper plus design

Based off this the closest NGK equivalent is the iridium IX series
LTR7IX-11 stock# 6510 which is a hotter heat range than required. So
unless fouling is an issue I would suggest using the Champion plug as we
unfortunately don't have the correct equivalent. Hope this helps, thank

JUST A MATTER OF TIME! I dont believe NGK will take long to have an equivalent plug! If heat range major difference,shouldnt be a problem for NGK. We still have Champions in stock from the earlier 600-700's that customers DONT want! YES Champions are good for lawnmowers and weedeaters(still have em in my riding mower and weedeater) Just too lazy to crossreference. COST difference between the two if NGK does come out with an equivalent will probably be deciding factor.We still stock NGK plugs for the last of Polaris EFI pwc's and they run about 18 bucks each! Hope it doesnt come down to that.

Noticed also the the fuel tank is smaller by .75 gal on the EPS vs XP unit. XP: 5.25 gal / 19.9 ltr EPS: 4.5 gal / 17 ltr
