08/SP800 front end problem
#1
I would like to know what I can do to the front wheels to straigten them out when the quad is just sitting there with the steering straight on the wheels look like they lean like the camber is out of whack, have any of you seen this or have this problem? I also think that it creates harder steering so I am trying to find a good fix for this problem......
any suggestions would be helpful thanks...........................

this is a common issue w/ all the sportsmans w/ the struts over a period of time and if you have like mine a winch ,brush guard, and a full storage box it makes the springs weak. you either put heavier springs in or spacers to take up the slack.

My machine only has 20 hrs on it no storage box up front, no brushgaurd but I do have a winch on it. stendori what do you think of the springs that polaris offers for an upgrade? or would you go the spacer route you said you did some type of fix yourself? do you have any pics of it?

Mine has been like that since day one as well. Is it possible that maybe Polaris designed it that way? I have read a lot of negative post about the tires leaning, and it is attributed to weak struts. But I have saw no evidence or good explanation that there is an actual problem. It should help cornering, and I haven't bottomed the front end out yet so I do not see it as a problem. If you look at the pic below, under acceleration the tires are out at the top due to the front end rising, if they were straight at rest then I think they would be way out at the top under even moderate acceleration. I do think the rear springs are a little weak, especially for towing.

The way I understand it is that the tires lean in at the top by design. It's supposed to reduce steering effort or something. My ATP was like that as is my SP800. I hung a winch and BG on the front of the ATP and it was really sagging so I put a set of EPI HD constant rate springs on, fixed it all up and improved the handling a bunch. I think Popo goes with soft front springs to keep the ride cushy. I'd like to have them a little tighter. Somebody, maybe EPI makes preload adjusters for the front, I think I am going to try some of those on the 800.

I have an 08 sportsman 500, had the same problem. I have a bushgaurd and a winch on the front, which cause the front end to drop down and the tires camber to be slightly off. I put in a set of heavy duty springs from Polaris.....brought the front end back up 2", and straightened out the wheels. Also it improved the ride and handling on rough trails as well as higher speed corners on hard pack, the front end doesn't dive into the corner anymore.

heres a pic of mine w/ my homemade spacers.
there made of 1 1/2" cpvc pipe. 2" high is too much, but the 1 1/2 was just right.

Stendori Where do you buy this at? and is it 1 1/2'' tall? by what is the diameter? so if Im getting you correct they are 1 1/2" tall by 1 1/2" in diameter can I buy this from say like a home depot or something? thanks stendori for the pic and help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also will those work on the 08/800 springs? I see you have them on a different year or machine due to the red springs.
