Hello Dave.
I just got my 01 SC 500 back from the shop last friday. I had a Hot Seat clutch kit and pipe installed. The parts were just over $400.00 dollars. So far I am very happy with Hot Seat. I am not sure as to which mod really made the difference but it goes a heck of alot quicker. Hopefully this helps.

My friend just purchased a kit, put together by Rick Ritter at RCR, for his 2001 Scrambler 500 4X4. It includes a pipe, silencer, hi-flow airbox mod kit, and carb jets. It cost around $400. He gets his quad back with all mods installed in about a week or so. I'll let you know what the difference in performance is.

I your opinions what is the better of the mods? H.P.D., HotSeat, Aaen, I have been thinking about some high performance modifications myself and would like some response to the different brands. Also has any split the front and rear brakes I have also been concidering this but would like some more feedback first. If you have done the brake split did you also go with the second master cylinder, seemed to me that would be the only way to go but then again I havent don this yet. A little help please.

Get your pipe first and then you can tune your clutch to match the pipe's powerband. I have heard that the HPD pipe makes the most power, but I personally don't like the looks of it and don't like the fact that it can't be tuned with discs. As far as the split brakes, I'd try asking that question in Dennis Shotwell's forum http://pub8.bravenet.com/forum/show....rnum=612682403 I'm sure at least one of those guys have done that.

My friend got his 2001 Scrambler 500 4X4 back the other day with an HPD Pipe, Clutch Kit, K&N Air Filter and carb jet installed. The package was put together by Rick Ritter.
There was no overall difference in the top speed, but you sure can get there a lot quicker. The quad definitely has more *****.
