ETC Adjustment on SP335?
#1
Has anyone tried to adjust their Electronic Throttle control on a Sportsman, or any other Polaris that has this? TOP SPEED and I mean TOP SPEED on any surface is 35mph on the under-horsepowered, fat SP335. But the quad just doesn't feel like it's revving out. I wondered if there's some hidden power to be unleashed by adjusting the throttle. Signed, Mr. Shoulda-got-the-SP500. Thanks!

You can and should adjust your ETC but I doubt that's the source of your top end problem. You should have 1/16” to 1/8” of play at your thumb throttle. Peeling back the rubber covers on the throttle sheath (just down from the ETC box) will expose the adjuster. Back off the lock nut and screw or unscrew the adjustment to take out/ increase the throttle slack. All this does is increases or decreases the length of the throttle cable sheath. Usually you need to increase it to compensate for cable stretch.
Some make this adjustment by using a 1/8” hex key as a feeler gauge between the contacts inside the ETC box. With flat screwdriver carefully pry the cover off the box and you’ll see the contacts. I disable the ETC on my machines as improper adjustment can cause backfiring. If my throttle ever freezes up I know where the kill switch is.
