Default Aluminum or alloy wheels VS Steel wheels

I ride in the Rocky Mountains and they got name for a good reason.
I want to get the 'Stealth Black" Polaris with the aluminum wheels but I got a lot of little dents on my last atv with steel wheels.
Are these fancy wheels pretty fragile? Breaking the rim , where the tire would'nt hold air would not be good.
I still like the black and that's the only wheels that they come with.
I'd hate to ask the dealer to trade those nice ones for plain steel ones.
Where can you buy cheap steel wheels?

I have the Stealth SP800 (08') and have had no issues with my aluminum but everyone one is different. I do ride hard pack with
rocks and such. I think my stock tires would get the punctures before my wheels took the hit but I don't know. My SP450 has
the stock steel rims and I can see where the bents are. So I do think our Aluminum wheels are more durable - IMO.

Aluminum all the way, there lighter easier on the CVs and whole drive train in general. I wish I had them. I got so feed up with tires slowly lossing air that I just put tubes in the tires and never needed to add air in the last two years.

Now I have 7ply tires in a way also.

Tire companies try to make there tires lighter ,who whats to throw them on heavy steels rims and cancel out the whole advange of them.

I had steelies on my TB and i hit a stump the wrong way and broke the bead. Ive had aluminum on for awhile now. After scratching the rims they often rust which aluminum wont.

That's good to hear guys, I like the looks of those rims. Most of trails we ride look like these.

Tons of fun but a little rocky

You may want to go 6ply or higher. I hear the BIGHORN tires are one of the better
for rock climbing?

Every Sportsman made since 96 came stock with 6ply tires. One thing about Polaris there not cheap with the OEM tires.

The Rims are a Aluminum alloy just like those motocross rims are made of but the rock has to get through a balloon 26" tire to bend the rim,not easy to do.
