Well I bit the bullet and it's green. It was just too smooth and good looking not to take it home. Well not all the way home, it's getting all the extras put on it and then I will pick it up. I was just looking on another forum and the guys testing the 850 also had an 800 with them. With the ride they did the 800 needed gas after 45 miles and the 850 still had a third of a tank and that was with only 65 miles on the machine. I didn't get a chance to hit any dirt with it but from what I've read through the forums I know it will be good. It is one sweet machine. I also looked at the Can Am 650 and that is also one sweet machine but I'm not too sure about the Visco Lock if your in technical terrain, sometimes three complete wheel spins could leave you upside down.
Take good care,
Dave

I'm getting heated grips, 3000 lb winch, front rack, back rack, gun scabbard, trailer hitch and front bush guard. They didn't have the winch in stock. They had the 2500 lb one but the 3000 was only $20.00 bucks more. If it's bigger I'll take it. It's an identical machine to Highoctane's. I was going to get the Stealth Black and the only one they had was green but it grew on me really quickly. One thing I didn't want to do is buy a Demo so I asked him what the hours and mileage are on the machine and I'm the only one that has test driven it and that's the way it will be when I pick it up on the 14th. I also asked the owner about all the comments on rad protection. His response was that in the past 20 years he has only replaced three rads. Two due to accidents and one that had a stick put through it when the guy backed up. That was with the rad in the lower mounting position. I'm pretty excited about this new machine.

That's awesome, and it sounds like you are getting some pretty cool goodies for your new baby!! Too bad that you have to wait till the 14th to get it, I'm kinda surprised that it will take them that long to install everything. Usually dealers will get the parts in that they have to order in about 5 days. The 14th is two weeks away, I'm sure you are really chomping at the bit, lol!!

CONGRATS 600Grizzly!!
The Green is a good choice. I still need to get the heated grips for mine but other than that I've about got it set up the way I want. The hard front storage box is an excellent addition for around $150.00, you should think about it before you bring it home!
ENJOY!!
(sorry you have to wait 2 weeks!)

Rode a few hours today, And WITHOUT A DOUBT it is better and smoother in the rough stuff, ie crawling over downed trees in this case. A combo of the ground clearance and the suspension makes it seem ALOT less like work.</end quote></div>

I've heard some mention that the new XP isn't as good as the old model in slow technical terrain. It is supposedly geared too high or something. Makes it harder to control the power and crawl and climb smoothly.

Any comments?</end quote></div>

Like Opie said, my opinion is it is ALOT better in the technical stuff and easier to contol. Compared to the 850 the 800 has lower gearing and a touchy throttle, both of which make controlling the power, especially in technical stuff, more of a challenge. With the 850's slightly higher low range and smooth consistent throttle and sweet suspension that soaks up the rough stuff. I can put this thing right where I want it. In one area I have to cross multiple dead falls real close together with minimal clearance on the sides from standing trees.
I only did it once on the 800, just too jumpy and the fenders paid the price. I took the trail on the 850 yesterday, multiple times and not a scatch, and it was TIGHT but I was able to ease through it very controlled. Might be hard on the belt? But it's nice to be able crawl through right at belt engaement speed if you need to. The higher geared low range I could see maybe being a problem with heavy pulling. I'll let you know soon. I have about a 1500# camper I used to move around with the 800 that I'll pull now with the 850.

Congrats 600Grizzly!!! What the dealer said about the old rad location I can beleive, it was better protected that the new location. I intend to add some protection to mine, just haven't gotten around to it. I went through some pretty good bush and pushed over a few small saplings yesterday and it seems that the design/shape does well at keeping the stuff away from the radiator.

I guess I should have said front storage box instead of front rack. Opie 1 Har it isn't taking the dealer that long it's just that I can't get back down to the Lower Mainland until then. I have to arrange a different trailer to haul it back with also. I have a small 4 by 8 utility trailer but it is just marginal with the quad width. I didn't really want to haul my big 8 by 12 trailer but I probably will have to do that. I have to take a Ferry to get to the lower Mainland and then it's about 60 miles up past Vancouver. There were closer dealers but they all wear suits and are pretty slick. The guy I'm dealing with is a down home kind of guy and a very straight shooter and that fits my comfort zone a lot better. I get the feeling he will take care of my needs and if a problem arrises he will be looking out for me.
Take care,
Dave

HighOctane I made a mesh grill to protect the intercooler on my 5.3 GMC. I went to a fabricating shop and they had some stainless screening that was perfect. I made up an aluminum frame for it and pop riveted the screen to the aluminum frame. It is very sturdy.

I acually have a screen protector from my Cobra intercooler, but the holes are too big. I looked at Lowes yesterday but didn't find anything I liked. I'll come across something. I have a plan for a alum. skid if someone doesn't come out with something soon. I have a buddy who does aircraft sheetmetal I'd already have hime making one if he lived closer. Figure if I'm not riding for awile I'll send hime the stock plastic and have him replicate it with some high quality alum.
