2006 Polaris X2 Clicking
#1
First time posting, so be kind, but I could use some help or ideas. I just picked up a 2006 X2, factory demo, with 11 miles, and 4 hours on it. I do have a small problem I'm trying to figure out.
Once I got it home, I noticed a clicking (rather loud) during shifting, and occasionally while riding. The click comes from the rear end. If I am sitting still, put it in/out of park, I hear the click. If I put it in/out of turf mode, I hear the click. If happens about 1 second after making the change.
The part that bothers me a bit more, is that it occasionally does it while riding, especially while starting to move from a stop.
This is the first newer Polaris I've riden, so I do not have anything to compare it to. I've never heard anything quite like it on another ATV. I do have a 30 day dealer warranty, but the dealer is about 45 minutes away, so I don't want to take it in if this is nothing. Thanks in advance for ideas!

Two noises you are probably hearing:solenoid on rear diff clicks when you switch in and out of turf mode AND probably drive line lash which is NORMAL on all Polaris machines. Nothing wrong as long as it is not a constant noise while operating! If it is take it to the dealer! Good luck

So if I'm in gear, and everytime I start to move, I hear the click in the rear end, that could be completely normal? Just seems weird. Maybe I'm just overly worried about it...

Normal for the most part!! My customer complaints usually are as you describe: when I first start out in gear makes click/clack noise,Or makes noise in reverse when starting to move. Only when the noise is CONSTANT forward or reverse is when usually cv wear is excessive. You have to consider also:from motor to clutches to transmission to driveshafts there will be some play or give resulting in gear lash noise. The cv joints take the brunt of the force and just a little slack in cvs will cause noise,BUT as stated above normal and not a problem. Have had em straight out of the crate do this!!
