Carb vs EFI

Emissions
Just as performance can be changed with a few simple environmental changes, so can the emissions output. Carburetors are tuned with screws, where EFI is calibrated digitally. It is difficult for manufacturers to guarantee emissions compliance from mechanical devices that could easily be altered in the field. EFI can compensate for engine wear and degradation over time, where mechanical parts cannot.

.......and i just finished reading 9 pages of EFI vs Carb. Haven't read anything that would change my mind on buying either one, in fact I have one of each.
I have a 05 Sportsman 400 carb and 08 Sportsman 500 EFI. Until I bought my used 08 EFI sportsman 500 in July, everything I have (except the 2010 Ford pickup) is carb. My carb'd 98 Vulcan 1500 motorcycle has worked flawlessly since new and I've had it up and over some of the highest passes in Colorado (13,500'), same with the wife's 04 carb'd Sportster 1200. Once I did a carb swap on my 86 CJ7 (to a better off road carb), it functions flawlessly at high altitude. A properly tuned carb runs just fine, starts just fine and works just fine.
Is EFI better? of course. No argument. Newer, more advanced technology that simply delivers fuel better. But, the Carb'd vs EFI argument would not be any kind of deciding factor in any buying decison for me. I'm just not a carb snob. For others, it is a factor in your buying decision.

it is a nice comfort being able to start the motor up in 3 chugs and walk away and hear it purring like a kitty.

My efi rotax twin will fire up in half a chug when it's 10* out.
