What Kinda Oil Is Everyone Runnin In There Sportsman??
Mobil 1, with a little slick 50 and a polaris filter. I also add injector cleaner in my gas when I change the oil and occasionally between changes. I use synthetic grease on my quads. The rest of the fluids I stick with Polaris fluids.

The the Polaris oil is also a Full synthetic like Amsoil and was 0w40 the last time I used it.
0w or 2w, no matter,, the lower the number the better for cold starts on Polaris, because that means it flow quicker on cold starts and the 500 cams needs oil right off the hop on cold starts, and the oil pump has tight tolerances.
A 10w takes too long on cold starts to get up to temp before the oil flow correctly for the Polaris oil pump and cam.

Exactly! A while back I read over at the "Bob Is The Oil Guy" site where someone sent the Polaris 0W-40 oil for tests. It came back with a viscosity rating of 20W-50. Not sure if that is true, but that weight is much to high for my liking, so I prefer not to take the chance. I'll stick with AMSOIL. Their products have always performed extremely well in everything I've used them in.

Hey mods why don't we get a sticky on these topics we run into all the time. It would be nice to have the oil, oil filter, and all the cross referenced part #'s in a single list or just make them stickys. I know it would take some time to make a complete list and I would do it if I knew how or had the time to do it. I think it would be a great idea and very helpful for us all.

We just bought two kits from polaris one for a single cylinder Polaris 500 and one for a two cylinder polaris 700. The kits look the same but different directions. Are the filters and oil amount the same for both bikes? You would think that the 700 would take more oil. We spent $27 per kit which is crazy.
