since you drained the gas already, remove the tank and turn it upside down. you should be able to grab it . i cant believe no one suggested this.

since you drained the gas already, AND save removing the tank get a buddy, turn whole machine upside down and shake it. Actually think the grabber would work depending on the size of it. Mine has come in handy pretty often. Since don't have one the remove tank would probably be more feasible.

You could probably do it with 1 coat hanger. Just cut the hanger so you have two straight lengths then bend a tight hook on the end of each one. use one to arrange the nozzle so you can put the other one down inside the spout. Use the second one so you can lift the nozzle a small amount then hook the far end of the nozzle with the hook on the one you put down the spout. Use the two to guide and lift the nozzle out. Just make sure you turn the hook away from the wire you mentioned. Good luck fishing.

thanks to all for your suggestions!! went to a home depot today and they didnt have a grabber...gonna try a few more stores tomorrow and I am going to stand the machine up on it's ***. Just curious...how hard is it to remove the gas tank? (I'd love to get an XP - just need someone to lend me the coin!)

the time you spend trying to find a grabber(not a bad idea but still takes time) you could have had the tank off and back on. just my opinion.
