MY 2006 HAS 300 HRS-NEVER BEEN TOUCHED-JUST STARTED BACKFIRING AND WON'T IDLE UNTIL ENGINE IS WARM--ANY SUGGESTIONS?

 

Could it be a fuel problem as I just posted about my new 850? Might try some prem. fuel with the fuel additive I mentioned.

Check throttle cable.

 

Good luck and let us know. I once had an old mower and almost gave it away as it would not run right. Fellow who bought it put prem. fuel in and it is still running. I believe in prem. especially now that fuel is down and I don't drive that much anymore. A Jeep service guy told me you would not believe the inside of engines that ran on reg. vs. Prem.

 

make sure the etc is set right and not overriding like he mentioned. should have about 1/8" free play in it. check for water in the gas.
