Default more 4x4 problems

ok, more problems. had a wheel bearing go bad due to seal bad and leaking all fluid out of the hub. i replaced all the bearings (8 total) with new seals and new fluid. now more times than not the front hubs engage even when the demand switch is turned off. seems it dosent happen as much if the axle nut is loosened some, but then the hub has too much slop in it. some times its the right side sometimes its the left side. it has me baffled. any help appreciated. thanks....

p.s. this is a 2001 explorer

ok, took everything apart again, cleaned, and new fluid. backed off on the axle nut another 1/2 turn and same problem. with the 12volt hub wires disconnected i can put it in reverse and give it some gas and the rear wheels will spin about 10 times then WHAM one side engages and rips the handlebars out of my hands....

i seen some wear on the armature plates but i dont know if this is the problem or not...

?????????????????????

Depending on what style hilliard you have you don't need a spacer. if you torqued on a axle nut that needs a spacer you probably could'nt turn the hub. If the armature plate becomes magnetized, then you have to change them. That comes right out of a service bulletin from polaris
