I have a Sportsman 500 and my son jumps it over small mounds, nothing really high but all 4 wheels come off the groud. I know it is not the safest thing in the world, but are these things made to handle this or are they better to keep the tires on the ground? Thanks.

On one of my older 500s a rear A-arm broke while I was cruising down a trail. It was the day after I jumped a few feet up out of a bowl. It had a defective grease zerk so one bushing was never greased for several years. Jumping it and never being greased was a bad combination. Other than that, fairly small jumps never seemed to be a problem.

Its hard on the buttons in the secondary clutch, the rear wheels are spinning when tires hit the ground and this is real hard on the ramp buttons.

See jumping My buddy's son and my son were jumping a tabletop. The one at about 23 seconds was about 20 feet or so. The quad didn't have any signs of stress at all. Good, tough quads. I think the Sportsman is a 2002 and the ATP is a 2005.

I have jumped mine alot!! Nothing has broken so far, but on the XP the front tires will rub up under the front fenders if you come down too hard on the front.

Wolf, how does the XP do if you crank up the springs on the front?

I just remembered something that happened on my '97. Sometimes when it landed the clutch cover would rub. It wasn't enough to wear a hole in it or anything. It just made a little sound. The newer ones with the better cover design never did that.
