Fuel Troubleshooting Help 07 500 EFI
HI,
I have a 07 Sportsman 500 EFI that started up a bit ago and than died after I backed it out of the garage. Once it sat a bit (approx 5 mins) it started back up and died again. It will now no longer start unless I spray some ether into the air cleaner. We are expecting a bunch of snow tonight and I need it to plow my driveway. Also parts department closes in 2 hours. Any help is very much appreciated.
Just looking for the best and easiest way to troubleshoot this.
THANKS!!!!!

Sounds like you ran it out of fuel.
I wouldn't use anymore ether on it, I hate that stuff. I don't know what your weather is like there, but my first guess would be a fozen line, preventing it from getting fuel.
If this is the case, I would try getting it into a warmand cozy place to thaw it out and then add some de-icer to the fuel to prevent it from happening again.
Can you hear your pump running when you turn on the key?

Let me take that back, when I turn the key on it buzzes for about a second. and than buzzes for a couple seconds when I turn it off</end quote></div>
Well, I guess you can rule out a frozen line. Someone else will have to jump in and help with the EFI.
Is the buzzing you hear the same, as you have always experienced, when turning on the key to start it? Or is it a different sound.
I guess I am asking you if you are hearing the fuel pump, pumping up to pressure the system. On mine, it is quite distinctive and I am used to hearing it upon start up.
