Default Winch won't hold the plow up!!

i think the problem i had was i would hold the "in" for too long and the winch would keep pulling when the plow had no place to go, at least if you winching out of some crap there is at least some give, when you lift the plow, the push-tubes are "framed" out there is no give.
im using the 48" glacier plow with the warn 1.5ci, this year i put a clamp on the winch cable so i can "hear" when the plow is raise high enough and the clamp hit's the flare lead

Update - I took the winch apart and the plastic end cap is cracked right next to the fee spool lever. Apparenty just like the failure GunnSmoke mentioned earlier. Part cost is $39 plus shipping.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: fishlessman

had my 2500 polaris winch 6.5 months and it burnt out the first real time i used it, dealer replace it with an upgrade to the 3000 warn winch for a little over a hundred for the upgrade, the winch is alot better now.</end quote></div>

Good price!.......and a VERY smart move! I just can't understand why the "Polaris" winch is still being offered. It's about a 95% TROUBLE! (I think the other 5% haven't used their winch yet!)

For years Polaris was teamed-up with Warn and I can't understand why they changed.

Fish6942, I'm glad you have yours figured-out!
