07' sportsman 700 power loss?

Default 07' sportsman 700 power loss?

short story, i put a new winch and plow on and smashed a wire causing a short and fuse to blow. i found short and fixed, now i am only getting a maximum of 4500 rpm in high range? it is like it isn;t gettting power for some reason? any ideas?

I would say your short damaged the computer..... try holding in the override button to see if it goes away....

it doesn't cut out........so push it when i have the throttle at full speed and see if the rpms go higher? could it be the ecu that would be bad?

i tried the override but it didn't really seem to do anything! i guess i am going to have to take her into a dealer or something. Thats SUCKS!!!!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img] well. i guess i will try a few more things before i have to pay them a tone of money i am sure to get them to look at it. thanks!

thanks for the link.......i bought a service manual (cd) off ebay......the cd was like $15, they want like $50 plus for the paper manual! i think that is rediculouse! thanks!

so i did some more research..........i replaced the spark plugs first...the cheapest solution. That didn't do it bhut now i have brand new spark plugs!
I checked the spark ignition coil and it definitely was it. When i took it off, i smelt the same electrical smell i smelt before the 20 amp fuse blew!
So to anyone that reads this. DO NOT EVER USE A LARGER FUSE! the amp fuse that the factory calls for is the max recommended! I tried a fuse that was only 5amp larger and i fried my ignition coil! Life stinks............get over it right!
