Hey Adam~
Sorry to break the truth to you, but Wisconsin passed a law banning all modified exhaust systems on ATV's. I know people are still doing it though, so I don't think the law is enforced to strictly. But yes, you will need a spark arrester added to your RCR silencer. What trails do you plan to ride this summer? La Crosse would be right on your way up there, so let me know when you're going...I love riding up there!!

The lower portion of the Chequamegon National Forest is heavily patrolled by Revenue Officers of the US Forest Service. These Federalis have the unenviable reputation for ticketing any one and every one for every possible "perceived" violation.
These "Wyatt Earp Types" make the old fashioned southern sheriff stereotype look tame, like Andy of Mayberry. This branch of the US Forest Service is way too intense.
Stay away from the area east of Park Falls. These forest rangers would ticket their own family.
Here are two examples of their escapades that have made the newspaper.

It happened after last years successful enforcement of the snowmobile pipe ban. The minimum fines are $150 and the arresting officers take a Polaroid picture of you standing next to the pipe.
Great source of revenue for the State of Wisconsin!
Make sure that you are 100% legal when riding in the Chequamegon National Forest.
Vilas, Ashland, and Price Counties are also strict on "pipe" violations.
(Look for "aftermarket pipe law enforcement" at the upcoming Hurley ATV Rally over the Memorial Day Weekend. The county has hired a snowmobile/atv enforcement officer.)
But...when you are out at the cabin relaxing or fishing, do you really want to hear Banshees,Warriors,EXs etc. ripping it up in the gravel pit 2 miles away? Or tearing down the railroad grade at full throttle?
Noise is the main reason that the public has such a low regard for dirt bikes. (not to mention the whoops that they put in the trails)

Are they doing decibal tests or are the arbitrarily looking at the pipe to see if its factory? I was planning to go there this summer. I have a Banshee with Toomey pipes AND the Hush kit so I know the decibals are OK. But I don't want to drive 7 hours to get there and then spend my time looking at my quad on the trailer!
