I purchased a 2002 Polaris SPORTSMAN 500 awhile ago.I noticed that there seems to be a clicking sound coming from the right side of the motor on the side the pull cord is on.I'm curious to know if this is normal or is there something wrong.It makes this noise when idling and accelerating any info would be great.I have gone on you tube and listed to a few videos and I think that I can hear the same noise could someone let me know what you think.

 

I have the same noise on my 2002 500ho. Been there since new, I think it's normal.

 

I have owned an 01, 02, 04 and 05 Sportsman 500 and all make noise. Normal. Keep the oil changed, air filer clean and these babies last. Great machines.

 

LOL I figured I drive a jeep and have owned 3 a cj7,cherokee,and grand cherokee and they make noises to.After driving my sportsman a bit I think it's very much like a jeep in that department of what is that noise???Much appreciated I tell people that have jeeps if you don't want the noise don't by a jeep anyways much appreciated for the reply this is my first polaris and I did not have anyone to ask everyone I ride with have honda's so I guess there opinion does not matter anyways thanks again for the reply.
